Please Note: The BOSeTAMPER ships with its internal rechargeable 9-Volt battery disconnected and it must be reconnected before use. To reconnect the cable, simply unscrew the tamping plate from the bottom by twisting it counterclockwise. Then remove the exposed Phillips-head screws and lift the top half of the tamper off. Then simply attach the battery and reassemble the tamper.

The automatic tamper from Boston Electronic Tamper—a.k.a. the BOSeTAMPER—is a compact, easy-to-use automatic tamper built to deliver the perfect tamp every time with no physical effort on your part whatsoever. 

Features & Benefits

Rather than tamping according to pressure, the BOSe tamper uses tamp depth as its primary metric. This allows you to set your tamper to give you exactly the right amount of head room above your puck for the perfect extraction. 

Simply lock the tamper on top of your 58mm portafilter with a quick twist and it automatically tamps to your desired specifications. The easy-to-navigate menu allows you to make changes to a wide variety of variables for repeatable, customized tamping:

• Tamp depth can be set anywhere from 2 to 20 mm. 
  
• Tamp speed controls how quickly the tamping plate depresses, and can be set to slow, medium, or fast. 
  
• Tamp duration dictates how long the tamping plate stays depressed, anywhere from 0 to 3 seconds in 0.5 second increments. 
  
• Number of tamps can be set to 1, 2, or 3. 

The BOSe tamper comes with a flat, steel tamping plate which can be upgraded to either a ringed plate or a convex one, both of which are designed to improve the flow of water through your puck. 

The tamper can be charged using mag-safe charging plates. BOSeTAMPER has tested and recommend Apple’s wireless mag-safe charging plate as well as with the Baseus Wireless Charger for Magsafe 15W Mini, 

Wireless charging plate sold separately.  

Portafilter Compatibility

We have personally tested the BOSeTAMPER and confirmed it to be compatible for use with 58mm portafilters from the following brands:

• Bezzera - BZ Group and E61 Group Machines (Does not fit the Bezzera Strega)
• Breville - 58mm Tampers (Dual Boiler and Oracle Series)
• CREM - All CREM ONE Machines
• ECM - All Machines (E61 and non-E61)
• Gaggia - Classic / Pro / Evo Pro / E24
• Lelit - All 58mm Machines (E61 and non-E61)
• Profitec - All Machines (E61 and non-E61)
• Quick Mill - Pippa and all E61 Machines
• Rancilio - Silvia M and Silvia Pro X
• Rocket Espresso - All Machines

The BOSe tamper is not compatible with three-winged portafilters or 54mm portafilters. It will not fit on Dalla Corte 58mm portafilters as the tabs are too thick. The BOSeTAMPER is compatible with most stock 58mm baskets and those from IMS and affiliated brands including E&B, Baristapro, and Barista Improving Taste.
