JURA Z10 Espresso Machine
The Z10 is the pinnacle of super-automatic brewing technology from JURA, featuring three distinct brewing modes, a self-adjusting grinder that changes setting per-drink, flavor infused milk foam, app compatibility, and robust drink customization. Drinks can be prepared in the traditional style (Classic Hot Brew), at ready-to-drink temperature (Light Extraction), and cold for iced beverages (Cold Extraction). Menu navigation is intuitive with a combination of touchscreen menus and a physical rotary switch for simple selection. Drinks can be customized with your preferred strength, temperature, volume, and in your preferred brewing style. Custom drinks can be saved, copied, placed in your desired position on the drink menu and saved to one of four user profiles for even easier access.
When preparing milk specialties, the Z10 can produce both hot milk and milk foam, with the ability to automatically change between textures while frothing. The milk frothing assembly uses a pickup tube to siphon milk from a container or refrigeration unit for effortless café quality drinks. Cleaning is also incredibly easy, with a self-contained system that rinses milk cleaner through the frothing assembly and into a tray for easy disposal.
Several new drink options have also come to the Z10, including chocolate specialties with the new Chocolate Foam attachment as well as the Australian style Americano called the Long Black, where espresso is brewed over hot water. Product Recognizing Grinder
JURA’s Product Recognizing Grinder or PRG allows you to program your desired grind setting for every beverage on the menu. Using a unique tension releasing system with sound design modeled after F1 race cars, the Z10 releases the burrs between every grind cycle to reduce wear on the grinder and ensure that all ground coffee has been cleared before preparing the next beverage. Inside the programming menu, each drink can be programmed with one of 7 grind settings, allowing you to prepare espresso with an extra fine grind and traditional coffees more coarse for example. This level of customization unlocks an additional level of personalization not available from most super-automatic machines.
Intelligent Operation
This latest version of the Z10 comes with several updates from JURA to improve coffee consistency and quality. The new Quality Assistant and Milk Assistant provide reminders for things like refreshing the water reservoir, emptying the dreg drawer and rinsing the milk system. JURA has also leveraged the J.O.E. (JURA Operating Experience) app to add a new feature, the Coffee Timer, to have the Z10 wake up and brew a drink for you in the morning. The J.O.E. app also unlocks additional features like the ability to take drink orders, run maintenance cycles, and program additional drinks. Subtle but worthwhile features also include an actively monitored bean hopper so the Z10 will never run out of coffee mid-cycle.
Several other new features include Easy Mode, a new simplified drink programming menu for quick beverage customization, and the Caffeine Regulator. The Caffeine Regulator is a unique programming mode that reframes how drinks are customized. You set your baseline caffeine and select your desired caffeine content when brewing (low, medium, high) and the Z10 will modify how the drink is prepared to help maintain consistent flavor while increasing or decreasing the amount of caffeine delivered.
Four Ways to Brew
When brewing in Classic Hot Brew (the machine’s default setting) drinks are prepared between the high 180s - 190s with the option to set your desired strength between 5-16g across 10 settings. Brewing temperature can be set to one of three levels as well as the temperature of milk and milk foam when preparing drinks like the cappuccino, latte macchiato, and others. You can also set your desired grind setting and the Z10 will adjust the burrs before preparing your drink. The option to brew with pre-ground coffee is also available and can be permanently selected if desired.
Cold Extraction is a unique brewing method that brews with water drawn straight from the reservoir, bypassing the thermoblock and passing through the coffee with a unique pulsing frequency. When brewed over ice, the resulting coffee has the body and flavor of cold brew, and can be brewed on demand. Drinks customized to brew with Cold Extraction are highlighted with a snowflake icon. Setting your cold brew drinks to use an extra coarse grind is a way to combine the PRG and cold extraction for best results.
Light Extraction produces ready-to-drink beverages, brewing at a lower temperature (140°) and with less ground coffee. The resulting drinks are lighter, less hot, and less caffeinated so you can begin drinking them immediately and without as much buzz after.
Milk drinks can also be infused with flavor thanks to the Sweet Foam System which blends syrup into milk as it froths to distribute flavor throughout the entire drink. Simply fill the Sweet Foam cartridge with your favorite coffee syrup and attach it in place of the milk spout. Milk is infused with flavor while frothing as it blends with the syrup of your choice. The new Chocolate Foam attachment works like a larger Sweet Foam attachment to blend more chocolate flavor into your milk.
