Illy’s new X1 ESE/Ground Coffee Espresso Machine is designed to make the experience of brewing simple while still crafting delicious drinks. You can easily choose between ESE pods or your own ground coffee by switching between the two included baskets. The X1 makes it convenient whether you’re trying to make your morning cup quickly with a pod or if you want to take time pulling a shot.

Features and Performance

The X1 has been designed with user experience in mind. The cup holder is easy to adjust depending on whether you brew into a taller mug or a shorter espresso cup, so you can reduce the heat loss and potential for splashing your coffee while brewing. The built-in steam wand can be used to steam milk for espresso drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, and flat whites. The steam wand also dispenses hot water, making it easy to craft Americanos as well.

Another benefit of the X1 is that it is compatible with both ESE pods and your own ground coffee. Illy’s ESE pods are now compostable, so you can remain environmentally conscious while still benefiting from the convenience of using a pod to make your espresso in the morning. To switch between using a pod or ground coffee, you just have to change out the basket you’re using in your portafilter.
